Families are committed to improving the energy efficiency of their homes. This is because the Support Program for More Sustainable Buildings has received around 106,000 applications to date. And given the high demand, the Ministry of the Environment has decided to increase the program's overall budget to €135 million, an additional €39 million.

This is the fifth amendment to the incentive allocation regulation for the second phase of the Support Program for More Sustainable Buildings, which was launched in June 2021 with a total budget of €30 million.

The last increase in this support was made in May, days before the end of the second phase of this program, with the budget rising from €75 million to €96 million, as a way of “responding to the high demand” for this support aimed at making homes more efficient.

With the second phase of the Support Program for More Sustainable Buildings ending on May 2, the Environmental Fund recorded 106,133 applications, of which 26,000 were eligible, worth €43.7 million. With the €39 million increase in funding for this program, it will be possible to finance the remaining applications that become eligible.

This program, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), allows for “improvements in the environmental and energy performance of residential buildings, giving families the opportunity to increase thermal comfort and reduce their energy bills,” the office said in a statement published in May.

How? By installing photovoltaic panels, fitting more efficient windows, and investing in heat pumps. Under this program, families can count on an 85% subsidy to make their homes more energy efficient.
